The operating room provides comprehensive services for the patient and their families throughout the peri-operative experience. The overall care delivered provides for the physical as well as psychosocial needs of the patient and family. The department recognizes the physical, racial, ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic diversity of the families we serve. We recognize the family as essential nurturers, caregivers and participants in decisions that affect the total healing of the patient. We educate and share relevant information with patients and families in ways that are affirming and useful. These services include pre-operative assessment, education, and intervention, as appropriate for each patient. Intra-operatively, highly skilled and extensively trained surgeons, anesthesiologists and nursing personnel provide a large range of specialties in a safe, well controlled environment using the latest technology and techniques.

Anaesthesia is a carefully controlled and supervised state which allows surgery to be performed painlessly. It is more than “being put to sleep”

Who are our Anaesthesia?

Anaesthesia at are fully trained, medically qualified doctors who are specialized in Anaesthesia . This involves caring for patients before during and after operation.

What types of Anaesthesia are available?

General Anaesthesia
This is where the patient is put into a state of controlled unconsciousness for the duration of the operation.

Regional Anaesthesia
This involves injection of local anaesthetic which numbs a particular region of the patient’s body. The patient will be conscious but free from pain and may receive some sedative if he or she wishes to.

Locals Anaesthesia
The involves injection of local Anaesthesia to numb a smaller portion of the body. The patient will be conscious but free from pain.
